Funding by the European Union through NextGenerationEU

Holywell ETNS received a grant in 2021 to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide and support our learners at risk of educational disadvantage as a consequence, as part of the Irish National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) a project under the Recovery and Resilience Facility funded by the European Union through NextGenerationEU. This funding was used to purchase class sets of i-pads in order to give children discrete time to develop their digital literacy skills (carrying out research online for projects, creating presentations on projects, writing and receiving emails and using email addresses). For our younger students, the school also purchased 'Bee-bots', programmable robots as an introduction to STEM, which teaches programming, controls, sequencing and directional language. Funding from this initiative supported the school in achieving its targets for the School Improvement Plan in digital literacy.
